If you are a mail server administrator and arrived here after seeing connections from one of our hosts, this page explains who we are and what that traffic is.

Our customers upload lists of email addresses they already hold and ask us to
check which of those addresses still accept mail, so they can remove the dead
ones before sending. To answer that question we open an SMTP connection to the
recipient domain's MX host and issue RCPT TO for the address being
checked.
We never send DATA. No message is ever delivered, no content is
transmitted, and nothing is placed in any mailbox. The connection is closed as
soon as the server has responded to the recipient command.
Verification connections originate from these addresses. Each has matching forward and reverse DNS under this domain.

This list is kept current. If you see verification traffic attributed to us from an address that is not listed here, please tell us at abuse@meridianrelay.co.uk.
Email abuse@meridianrelay.co.uk with the domains or IP ranges you want excluded, and we will add them to our suppression list so we stop connecting. You do not need to justify the request and there is no cost. We aim to respond within one business day.
You are also welcome to block our addresses at your edge. We will not work around a block, and we will not move to different addresses in order to keep probing a server that has refused us.
For anything at all, including abuse reports, exclusion requests, questions about a log entry, or a suspected misconfiguration on our side, write to abuse@meridianrelay.co.uk. The mailbox is monitored by a person.
Please include the connecting IP address, a timestamp with time zone, and the relevant log lines if you have them. That lets us trace the exact session.
